Navajo Nation: March 2005

This photos are from last spring when Jason and I traveled to New Mexico during Spring Break. Most of these pictures are from the Navajo Nation in northwest New Mexico and northeast Arizona. We hiked in an area called Canyon de Chelley (pronouced Canyon de Shay). The first picture is called "Spider Rock," named after the Holy Spider Woman who taught the Navajo how to weave. The Navajo are now very well known for their beautiful weavings. This area is very sacred to the Navajo culture, so we were only able to see most of the canyon from the overlooks. Thankfully we had a great digital camera to capture pictures of the ruins found at the bottom of the canyon. We decided to post these pictures now because a lot of them have a "winter feel." Enjoy!

Logan, Utah

Hello everyone!! Here are some pictures from Coleman's trip to Logan, Utah. The large building you see is the Latter Day Saints' Temple. From what I learned on my trip, the temple is a very sacred building. Only the highest order church members are allowed to enter most of the rooms in the temple. Also, if someone from the church decides to have a wedding in the temple, those individuals invited to the wedding must obtain "clearance" from the church in order to enter the building. These are just tid-bits of info learned on the trip, so if anyone knows anything else, be sure to post a comment.
The other pictures are just of scenary surrounding the town.

Coleman's Trip to San Francisco

Here are some pictures from the trip I took to San Francisco in July. Most of the time, when I wasn't working, I just walked around the city. It is very, very hilly there as you can see by some of the pictures. I took time to walk down to the shore and visited Chinatown. I also took a tour of Alcatraz. The day of my tour it was so foggy I could not see the island from the mainland. But, I think the fog helped the photos out. It really made the place seem spooky.
Enjoy the pictures! We will be posting more soon. We love you!
